Restylane ®/Silk ®

Fred M. Novice, MD is the premier location for your Restylane® and Restylane Silk® filler needs. Restylane®/Silk® is made of non-animal hyaluronic acid and is a natural cosmetic filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as puppet lines or smile lines around your mouth. Allergy testing prior to use is not necessary.

Restylane®/Silk® is a cosmetic filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body.  Restylane®/Silk® works immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles.  Restylane®/Silk® is formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid, so it is eventually metabolized naturally.

Restylane®/Silk® FAQ

  • Where can Restylane®/Silk® be used?

Restylane® and Restylane Silk® can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds and hollows, such as the laugh lines, lipstick lines (lines on your upper lip), and marionette or “puppet” lines. Dr. Novice is a very experienced injector and many areas of the face and body that he fills with this product are considered “off label” uses.

  • How often should I be treated?

Restylane® and Restylane Silk® injectable provide results that last from approximately 4 months to much longer depending on the area injected.

  • When will I see results?

Restylane® and Restylane Silk® instantly add volume to the areas injected to help restore youthful contours. This means you will see results immediately following your treatment.

  • How much Restylane®/Silk® will I need for full correction?

Due to the individual needs of each patient, it is important to lay out a customized treatment plan during your consultation. In a clinical study where patients received full correction for their nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth) during initial treatment in the Restylane®/Silk® regimen, the average volume of product used was 2 to 3 mL per patient (2-3 syringes). However, some people who are addressing smaller lines or areas may need as little as a ½ syringe to achieve the desired results.

  • Are there any reasons why I should not be treated with Restylane®/Silk®?

Restylane®/Silk® should not be used in those individuals with known allergies to Restylane®/Silk® or Perlane® injections. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, Restylane®/Silk® injections are delayed until after delivery and when breastfeeding is discontinued.

  • What are some of the common side effects?

After your treatment, you may have some swelling, redness, mild discomfort or tenderness and bruising at the injections sites. People are able to return to work immediately and apply makeup in the office if needed. A more complete review of potential side effects will be given during your consultation.
